Burgundy got acrylic nails. Sometimes she has them, sometimes she doesn't. The only thing I knew about them was that when we had them, she had to open pop cans with butter knives

I watched Kim give Burgundy nails. I was fascinated. First she sanded the nails. Next she glued the super long nails on. The third photo shows you how long they start out. Remarkably, some women keep 'em that long. Yowsa. The fourth photo shows Kim clipping them down to the proper length, with a very specific tool. I liked the specificity of the tool. Next, she sands the bottom edge of the fake nail a little to make a smoother transition. I didn't get the last step photographed, probably because I was too mesmerized. Kim dips her small brush in solvent and then into the granular acrylic stuff. The two mix to make a blob of plastic (space-age polymers, no doubt) at the bottom of Burgundy's nail. Then she works deftly and quickly spreading that blob over the whole nail.

I know this is totally everyday to many women, but I totally enjoyed watching Kim work, because she was so adept. Both Burgundy and Mom are beauty school graduates, but neither of them took to doing nails.
