The
torsos of two men darting and swooping in a Chinese dragon in
the morning parade. State Fair royalty (looking adorable waving
perched on their float), several marching bands and other community
groups were also in the parade, but my favorite was the snake
of kids riding in plastic garbage cans tipped on their sides,
given wheels and being dragged by a man on a John Deere tractor.
I think I was charmed by the second life to the garbage cans,
who's rounded tops and flip top lids looked vaguely rocket like.
But only vaguely. And although the cans were half-heartedly
spraypainted with purple and green, the kids were enthusiastic
about their mode of transportation and part in the parade. Sadly,
I didn't get a good photo of that one.
