Aaron and Rebecca's Wedding Gift Boom! A lap quilt. 56" x 70" All cotton top, backed with red fleece like the baby quilt I made for Max. Considering that my sis's wedding quilt ain't done yet, I hestitated over whether to make Aaron and Rebecca a quilt or not. But I kept coming back to it and to Alexander Henry's Mocca big, bold floral fabric. If I was going to make them a quilt, I was going to keep it bold and simple. This one is just two alternating blocks - churn dash and snowball - but they combine nicely. The blocks are just about 8" square, so I needed 18 snowballs and 17 churn dashes. And the fleece backing is darn cozy and a great way to finish a top without basting and batting and binding and all that. Quilt purists may poo-poo the approach, but I think it makes a darn soft and cozy quilt. I hope they like it.
