The Tattooed Man
Here's a pic of my aforementioned friend Shea Nangle! I designed both tattoos you see on his guns, save his blue and black celtic wedding band tattoo on his left arm. On the right arm, vice, on the left, virtue.

New Ink!
I finshed this second tattoo design for my friend Shea last June, and yesterday he got it finshed!! Woohoo! Such excitement. I gotta say, it's a different kind of kickass to see your work on someone's skin. Here's more pics.. Patrick Cornolo of Cherry Bomb Tattoo did the tattooing, and we can both recommend him enthusiastically.

Meet Miss Kitty Lucky
The daunting theme of this month's Month of Softies is "Vintage Catwalk." I
had a vague idea in my head, but finally sat down to work on it last night. I knew I wanted a svelte cat in a cocktail dress. While I was digging in the Abyss Closet, I came across this forgotten leopard print. Purr-fect.

She was actually super easy and quick. I drew her form in white tailor's pencil on black cotton. Made the ears, Sewed the ears into the front and back. Turned her right side out, painted on her face. Waited for her to dry, ironed her face. Stuffed her. Went to bed.

Today, I made the dress and choker. The dress is designed to mimic the shape of her ears. the two "ears" were sewn to a waistband. Then I cut a rectangle of fabric and pleated it. Ironed that and pinned it to the waistband. Sewed that up and sewed the side seam far enough to still get to over her hips (you can't see that, but she's curvalicious). Then I sewed the dress to her. Finished it off with the choker and the eight ball charm I had from yeeears ago.

She stands a proud 20" tall.

Ta da!

I'm very pleased by her pose and her expression. And the dress is darn swank.

Happy Hearts Quilt Started
I printed the card design below on fabric with fabric paint. Two colors like the cards, and like the cards plenty of misregistered prints. The good prints are being made into little stuffed heart, just need to find the fiberfill in the abyss of the closet. The "bad" prints are still darn lovely, so I'm making them into a quilt. There's twenty of them, so the plan is to finished off the polka dots (ran outta fabric) and put these on point. I'll alternate these blocks with four patches of the checkboard fabric and solid white. Kind of an argyle type patterns. And the red & white stripes will be a border.

SCORE!
I just got the deal of the month at my local Hancock Fabrics. Just yesterday, I got an idea for a uniform of sorts for my graphic facilitation work. I needed some lightweight black fabric for my scheme. Went to Hancock to get thread and found a super sweet 68% cotton/30% rayon/2% spandex fabric.

Uh, $1.45/yard. Yesssss, you heard me right. I got 7 yards for $10.15. Victory!

Potted Flower Thank Yous
Boy, I'm on a roll tonight. I finished up these thank you cards I started weeks ago. The thank you, pot/leaves/stem part were printed with my Print Gocco. The flowers are three layered circles of scrap paper in red, orange, yellow and pink. They'll be sold in a variety set of 10 cards, 10 envelopes. Just gotta sort them out...

More Unbearable Cuteness

Here's today's work. Heart cards as one of my new valentines, though it can be an all-occasion card to send along a grinning heartfelt wishes. (nyuk, nyuk) A two color Print Gocco prints on super heavy cardstock. It's hand-printed and hand-cut, with a 5"x5" white envelope. Note: it's not a folded card, it's a flat card. $3 each.

Two firsts:

On the left, my set up with drying racks on the radiator, and on the right, my first prints on fabric. The Gocco textile ink is a good bit looser than superthick paper ink. So, I now know to only use bolder, simpler designs with the textile ink.

Boy, I hate to wait for ink to dry!

Hooray! Loobylu's Month of Softies has been made a Yahoo Pick for January 22nd. Not only that, but my Twisted Trunk Teeny was singled out and linked as "unbearably cute results." He's blushing.

Scrap Quilt
Okay, I didn't sit my butt down. I added more to my work-in-progree scrapquilt. Only did about 1/6th of what you see tonight. Presently, it's 35" x 41."

Now time to put away my zones.

Make sure to scroll down to see all the other sewing today!

Edited to add:
Boy, the Benedryl was talking! "Progree" "Now time to put away my zones." Huh??

Lemon House
Here's a second house tonight. Lemon yellows. 15" x 16"

In the meantime, I got a really bad allergic reaction. Now, I'm tuckered out. Better switch off the sewing machine and pick up my toys.

Little Yellow Cherry House
I'm on a roll! I've always been keen on house quilt blocks. With a full scrap bin, I'm finally working on some. I've made a few wonky ones. They are a lot of fun. Here's the first that made it into a finished wall hanging. It's tough to see here, but the house is a little ditty print of cherries on a yellow gronud. 18.5" x 15.5" It'll be for sale once I figure out a price. But first, more houses while I semi-watch the Golden Globes.

Tsunami Quilt Square
Here's my contribution to the Tsunami Quilt that Marta asked me to be part of! It's 6" squre, not a lot of space. I winged the design, no pun intended. I like what it became. It'll be going in the mail pronto.

Quilt No. 9
Campground sign fabric inspired the latest quilt, and it employs my favorite color combo. Red, yellow and black. I rounded up about a dozen complimentary fabrics and started cutting. The plan was to use the Bento Box pattern. Easy enough, lets all the fabrics elbow each other with the corners.

I made 16 blocks that were concentric squares:

Okay, not bad, sorta ho hum. Next, I cut 'em up into quarters:

And rearranged 'em:

I'll have to take another looks with fresh eyes tomorrow before sewing them together. Make sure that the arrangement is right. And at under 40" square once I sew these together, these are going to need some chunky borders.

Before noon, I already had a 100+ thank you cards printed:

Can't beat that. Gotta put away the Gocco to get sewing tonight.

Happy New Year!

Now January can begin - I have my new year's image done!
Postcard printed (via Print Gocco):

And an edition of 25 prints have been made:

There's serigraphs (i.e. silkscreened with Print Gocco), hand colored with watercolors. The image is to celebrate the new year. They prints are on 5"x7" BFK Rives paper and the stars are 4" across. If you'd like to start your year with one, they are here in the Shop!

Over Christmas and New Years I worked on new quilt tops using fabric and lantern blocks around I've had around for yeeeears. Finally time to work on it.

Here's one of the two tops that are nearly done. The one above is 50"x70", the second one 50"x60". And the extra blocks mean I could make two more tops. Crazy.

That makes me estimate there's many 20 quilt tops worth of fabric in the fabric cabinet. Yowza!
