Sheep Pillow
Ok, it doesn't look very pillow-like since I'm out of fiberfill. It is
the soon-to-be-pillow for my friend Dawn, whose power animal is the sheep.
It's 14" square, and the sheep fabric's a unworn pair of boxers I
bought ages ago. Glad to see them reincarnated. The pinwheels make me
want to go on a patchwork frenzy. Other fish to fry first...

Speaking of Chunky Bracelets
Here's a few recent bracelets. The farthest ones are made of glass beads
and will be one of the first items in the online store, the red button bracelet
designed for my sis's birthday on the 13th, and the crazy elephant bracelet
is for my own self! Man, my arm looks whacko from this angle.

Safety Bracelet
For years, I've had the idea of trying one of these safety pin bracelets
in the back of my head. Nothing original, but I totally dig the patterns
of the tiny beads. Last year, a web consulting client's business was making
these. I can't remember her name, but her company name is Racer X. She's
got a great eye composing these designs and makes bracelets, chokers and
belts. My current obsession with huge bracelets made me finally order
the safety pins and elastic and try one on. I'm digging it! But they take
loads of time, so I don't think I'll be making any to sell, because I
don't think the time vs. money equation makes sense. We will see.

Scalloped Skirt
This second skirt started with a great, thick cotton remnant. I made both
this skirt and the pink one with McCall's pattern 2129. The pattern has
an option for a wide band of contrasting fabric at the bottom. Since I
really didn't need another black skirt, I was on the hunt for a good candidate.
I had some leftover fabric from a pillow I made awhile back. I dug it
because it was a black and white squiggly abstract pattern, that reminded
me of Ray Eames' fabric designs. It would do the trick. The squiggles
reminded me on my favorite trim - rickrack. So, I got so jumbo rickrack
to seperate the black from the print. I wish I could've found 2" wide
rickrack - i.e. JUMBO rickrack. It's copasetic. Then I finished off the
design with a big scallop out of the black cotton. Quite charmed by this
one.

Pink Skirt
I got this big hunk of hot pink
thin wale corduroy remnant. First I made this skirt, next I cut three
purses. I've made one of them, two more to go. the Half circle shape was
inspired by the watermelon color. I think the pic on the right makes me
look like a demented Girl Scout. I also made a snazzy simple bag out of
some forgotten raw silk, but that hasn't been photographed.
Granted,
the skirt is an incredibly simple pattern, but I'm still pleased with
my first garment sewn after a self-imposed no-garment sewing policy I
instituted about 5 years ago. Although I'm a much better seamstress than
the average bear, it's still frustrating to my perfectionist self. This
turned out just fine.

Long
Time, No Blog.
*whew*
I've been making Art and doing Work, but this page has been greatly neglected.
Why? Three reasons:
1. Haven't been documenting projects as I go
2. Lots of apartment projects which I don't want to document on the site
for my own damn privacy.
3. Haven't been doing enough cool stuff!
But
I'm turning that around...
