Gifty Gift von Gifter
I just finished my gift to my friend Aaron and his soon-to-be-bride Rebecca for their wedding on March 6th. Turned out lovely. You can take a look here, if you're not Aaron or Rebecca!

Another Happy Customer*
Remember the baby quilt I made at the end of last month? There's Mr. Max enjoying in above! I'm learning baby vernacular, but I hear the quilt is used for "tummy time."

I hope he gets lots of good use and enjoyment out of it!

The whole quilt-making story is here.

*Yes, it was a gift, no he's not truly a customer.

BRAZILLA!
(hee hee hee. I just cracked myself up with that.)
So, yesterday I scored one heckuva bra for my contribution to Bras for Breast Cancer*.

I grew boobies at age 11. Big 'uns. I decided that I'd embellish just the kind of blue collar department store boxed bra that I dreaded while bra shopping. The kind that made boobs pointy and so unattractive. The kind that could cloth small children.

I trekked to Sears and found this number for $11.42. Woo hoo! White cotton, no stretch, very matronly. I wanted to get my size, but mine is the holy grail of undergarments, so this is a 36D. Therefore this will be the "36D of the Snow Queen." Lotsa silver and white beads and sequins and big ol' snowflakes over the nipples.

I'll report my progress.

(Some bra/breast stories on the Me blog.)

*Note: I emailed the organizer, and doublechecked the deadline because different sources were saying different things. Last I heard, the deadline in April 1st.

Busy Beaver Bonanza!
I got back from Seattle Sunday night. Monday I was thwarted by President's Day. Today I was able to check my mail and get a bevy of prizes, included new pins from Busy Beaver. Last fall, I asked proprietress Christen Carter if she needed any more designs for her pattern series for the So-and-So Button-O-Matic. I am pretty much obsessed with pattern and seeing patterns in things.

She said sure and to send along 5 designs. I did.

Then I hadn't thought about it for awhile, and I don't live/hang near any of the Button-O-Matic locations. And Christen had told me that they were switching over the machines to dispense smaller, more form fitting plastic bubbles for the pins.

After ordering Not Keren's button set (very snazzy, by the way), I checked in at Busy Beaver's site. New design - looks sharp. I inquired about what ever happened with those pattern pins. Christen said she'd send me samples.

By samples, I expected one of each to peruse. Oh, no! She sent along a slew of them! I can't wait to hand some out! Clockwise from upper left: Radial spore patten on yellow, "blueberries" a pattern I made out of two handcarved erasers, pink and green stripes, dice from my six-sided dice collection and pink and black harlequin pattern. The dice are my favorite, followed by the yellow radial and the blueberries.

So, for Button-O-Matic machine in Chicago and NYC, go here.

New Favorite Necklace
Alise's beau JB gave my a linoleum sample to me for my birthday. There's more to the story but I am outta time at the moment. I made it into my new favorite necklace.

Update: Ok, the story is that while Alise hosted my birthday party, JB was in the office working on a site. I popped into the office to borrow a pen. On the desk was a box chock full of old linoleum samples. I picked up a red one and said, "Wow, that's a nice linoleum sample." JB said he had got a bunch of them and had designs on dong something with them." I asked, "Can I have this one?" JB: "No." Me [in a half-hearted, self-mocking plea]: "But it's my birthday." JB: "No."

At the very end of the night when JB and Alise were going to give me a ride home, JB emerged with the linoleum sample in handing saying, "Happy Birthday, Brandy."

And while I had a "please no gifts, thank you" policy, this was my favorite gift.

It's such a fantastic object. About the size of a business card, a curved rectangle. It says St. Regis Panelyte, Red Irish Linen m-55. And while I do not like linen finish paper, it so works on this linoleum.

So, I strung it on thin fake leather cord and put a clasp in the back. Ta da. My new favorite necklace.

Beauty is everywhere.

Thanks, JB!
