Quilty Goodness!
I was in Minnesota this weekend for work and pleasure. But one of the biggest pleasures was to see my sister's finished quilt! I sent it off to Tammy Andersen of Railroad Treasures Quilt Shop in Hanska, Minnesota to be machine quilted and bound.

Yes, I confess, my name is Brandy and I'm a "topper." In the world of quilts, that means I like designing and sewing the quilt top, not the quilting and binding. So, with the mammoth 110" square quilt top for Burgundy and Mike's wedding, it was just a matter of who to hire for the second half of the quilt work.

I picked Tammy because her site had clear information, her prices were competitive and she's in Minnesota - where my sis lives and I hail from.

I sent her 50% down, the quilt top, the backing fabric (it was just bigger than the widest backing I could find, so it was pieced together), a yard of fabric for the binding and thread to match it.

I asked Tammy to send the quilt straight to Burgundy, so I didn't get to see it. I finally did it is GORGEOUS!

I told Tammy I'd like a meandering pattern, but the scale and thread color was up to her - both great choices. I know it's tough to see in this pic, especially if you're not using to looking at quilting, but the snaky line are the quilting, done with beige thread. The quilt is a great weight too! Just thick enough to be "quilty" but not too thick of puffy.

I love it! And I know Burgundy and Mike will get a lot of warmth and use out of it.

I've been using the polar fleece "cheat" of backing and quilting my quilts with a layer of that - So, I don't know when I'll be able to use Tammy's services next, but I can highly recommend her!
