Twisted Trunk Teeny
Ta da! My first Softie for LoobyLu's Month of Softies. I'm very, very smitten with him, and he's got a whole page of pics in the new Camaraderie of Softies gallery.

Brandy as an 8
I just sent out an invite for my eighth annual open houses in the Brandypshere. Inspired by the 8, I made the above illustration for it. I'm really fond of it, as long as folks don't think I birthed the gift.

Congrats to Nancy Ouellet, 2004 Quilt Raffle Winner!
Today I had the happy errand of delivering the cotton flannel and fleece lap quilt to my friend Nancy! Should keep her cozy and warn these gray days. Enjoy, Nancy!

Blue Eyed Boxy Bear
I had scraps from a chocolate brown jacket-turned scarf on the floor. I looked at it and thought "bear." There was enough for three of 'em. Here's the first one done. The other two will have to wait til tomorrow for limbs and stuffing - I'm tuckered out.

A Month of Softies
Ok, I'm on the Loobylu's A Month of Softies bandwagon. The first assignment - an accessorized elephant. Last night, I got back from the DIY Trunk Show. Great show, followed by a great invitation to an early Thanksgiving dinner. I was just peopled out. So, I stayed home. After some food and rest I got the bug to make an accessorized elephant.

It started with extra yellow felt. Therefore, a yellow elephant. I winged the pattern, so far so good. The accessory is a big ornate "elephant saddle." I'm sure there's a real word for it. In the pic, the point pointing down will go on the elephant's forehead. I got on a roll making the saddle. I'm love, love, loving it.

Delightfully, the whole thing should be made with materials in the Brandyshpere - except needing more orange embroidery floss to stitch together the elephant. More to come. I'm trying to be patient, saving the work for craft night and my Thanksgiving car trip.

DIY Trunk Show 2004
The show was a success! Thanks to Jim & Pat for their help, especially Jim, who after a long, long week spent his Saturday talking to people all day and being very helpful.

There's just something about this show. Both last year and this, it's just a darn nice show. I think it's that great convergence of organizers Cinnamon and Amy doing their work with a good energy, a super space, skilled and varied vendors and a pleasant, friendly crowd.

It's a darn nice show.

Thanks to everyone who attended, and I especially appreciate hearing that my site is useful and entertaining and seeing people genuinely happy to own or give my work.

Wowsa - the scarves I made yesterday were the belle of the ball at today's craft fair! I sold all four and the owners all seemed delighted! Two for gifts, two for keeps. The man who bought the GIANT scarf (lower left) was showing off his scarf to friends. Wrapping it this way and that, showing off the pockets.

You never know what will sell. At the Renegade Craft Fair, my mugs sold well, mostly to friends. At Art vs. Craft I sold little more than $2 pocket mirrors and $1-2 clearance rubber stamps. Today, card sets (hooray) and the corduroy scarves!

May have to find some more garments to send off to their next life as a scarf...

Reincarnated As Scarves
Here's two pairs of Pat's pants, two jackets, all corduroy. Now, four pockety scarves.

p.s. I still don't believe anyone who tells me I'm cute in overalls. I think I look like an Oompa Loompa - but I can't deny they are comfy and comfy makes me feel sassy.

Wallet/Keyrings - They're All the Rage!
Okay, maybe the rage is all in my pocket.

I finally had a chance to replicate the wallet I made myself in September. I like the keep my keys and wallet together and made my wallet (lower right in pic) to replace a similar one I had worn one.

Today, I made five more. Same fantastic sparkly black fabric from a beloved but busted pair of pants. Only change is the black zippers - it's surprisingly hard to find metal zippers with silver teeth versus gold. Gold's the standard for jeans. Anyhoo, the are heavy-duty black zipper.

I've loved mine. The pants were stretchy denim, so the wallets are a bit stretchy and comfy. Logically, they are just a little larger than credit card size and can fit quite a lot; mine is home to 10 cards (not all credit cards, thank you very much), business cards and cash.

I'm bringing them to the DIY Trunk Show TOMORROW.

Send a Friend a Trophy!
Here's the newest thing I'm working on - working through the election stupor. I wrestled with a can of ink. I won. Feels good to have ink under my nails.

Two color/screen Print Gocco print on heavy yellow cardstock. Registering the two screens wasn't too tough, with the design. Biggest thing was that the thick red ink took nearly 3 days to dry.

So, here's a 4"x6" card with a paper stand, and red envelope. You can write a message on the trophy and send it to a friend, for their own cheery, bright, convienently small and flat award! $3 each.

Now, back to feverishly pricing and packing the last stuff for Art vs. Craft in Milwaukee tonight!

My Sharpie Army!
In an effort to distract myself from election stress (yup, voted early, voted often), I headed up to Evanston for a movie and bought some new pens.

I feel like a sleeping fairy tale character awaking to all these new Sharpie colors! Wowsa.

I colored the Halloween drawing below with Sharpies, and was loving just how deep and flat the colors turned out. As my sketchbook laid open on my desk, my eye kept going back to the drawing - the red-orange and the reddish-purple. Mmmm...

I've been in a drawing mood lately, so my new Marigold, Navy, Plum, Burgundy, Sky, Pink, Olive, Mint and Tangerine Sharpies are a welcome addition!

p.s. Strangely, not all the colors - Pink, Tangerine, Mint and Sky - are on their site. Huh. Good news is they finally put logo apparel on their site! I just ordered my Sharpie tee. I use 'em and I am one.
