Piet Hein
Piet Hein was my type of guy. He was a poet, artist, mathematician. He wrote wonderfully charming aphorisms called Grooks/Gruks, accompanied by lithe line drawings that capture do much in so few lines. Oh, yeah, and he invented a shape, "the super egg."

If you find his Grooks books, snap them up - they are very hard to come by and very charming. Read them and then send them to me. ;^)

My favorite Grook:
"PROBLEMS
Problems worthy
of attack
prove their worth
by hitting back."

"I don't mind eels
Except as meals."
I feel the opposite. Unagi's tasty, but live eels make me shudder.
