Nothing
like not being able to go down.
- with the mouse, you guttermind.
This
is a lousy frickin week. I am holding out hope that it will end
on a good note tomorrow. This morning I was trying to check email
to fill rubber stamp orders, only able to navigate in 3 direction
(left, right and up), while overrun with cramps and a general
malaise about the project I am working on this week. Then I reached
into the glass jar that hold my combs and brushes in the bathroom.
Accidentally pushed it off the shelf and broke it. It did
make a satisfying sound. I threw up my hands and decided that
this week can suck my ass. Not just kiss my ass. It can suck it.

Not
only do I friggin LOVE Chicago, I FRIGGIN LOVE the Harold
Washington Library. I went there and had a delightful time. I took
loads of digital pictures of things in their massive, bizarro picture
file. I love that I can become more paperless - I took about 200
shots today and can save them in my Morgue (where all my source
and reference photos go on my computer), erase the discs and move
onto my next 200 photos. Not only did I do some great research,
I had fabulously helpful librarians. Some oh my best friends are
librarians :) They are. These HW stranger-librarians were
great. Usually I ask a question of someone working somewhere and
I get a apathetic, "Why are you asking me?" look. [I'm asking
you because you work here 40 hours a week and should know
something about your basic surroundings.] Well, on the Chicago
Public Library site, the section which allows patrons to check their
library card status was down. Usually I check my list of checked
out books online, and gather up what's due before I head downtown,
since I usually have a couple dozen items out at a time. Sadly,
today I forgot a checked out book which is now overdue - so I couldn't
check out anymore. So, I asked the woman at the 3rd floor general
information desk what the deal was and she was all over it.
Man,
I am the Queen of Overexplaining. Just ask any of my exhausted
friends.

So,
tonight on the train, there was a guy sitting perpendicular to me.
He smelled like he bathed in alcohol, and was a bit cagey. Now,
I understand that being female I don't have an organ hanging between
my legs, and crossing ones legs is not always comfortable, but this
guy was sitting there with his legs splayed wide open, facing me.
I was reading a magazine and trying to emanate bad vibes at the
guy, but really what I wanted to do is turn to him and say, "Hey
GUY, quit pointing your dick at me."
My
parents didn't raise a delicate demure flower, and I am able to
compete for train legroom with the best of the boys.

I
talked to my sis tonight. She is good and kicking ass in her Burgundy
Agerbeck way.
We talked about the fact that many folks have asked her if I am
a lesbian.
Come
on, people, just because I'm not in a relationship or fawning
over a man does not mean I'm not attracted to them. Just because
I love being a woman doesn't mean I am attracted to them. I'm
straight. I simply like, nay love, being single and have
better things to do with my time. Moreover, I am attracted to
so few men, because I have very high standards in all aspects
of my life. Some of my best friends are men. Some of my best friends
are gay. Some of my best friends are gay men. Some of my best
friends are women. Some of my best friends are gay women. I'm
tired of people looking through a needle's eye sized window on
sexuality and how it is manifested. Get over yourselves.

I
am all about the Sony Mavica FD-90. It rocks and rolls.
It does everything but toast bread. I can capture up to 32 photos
or a minute of video on a floppy disk. I can also annotate a still
image with an audio file. And I can crop and copy photos in the
camera. I worked at a place that used Mavicas and got hooked then.
But I am even more pleased than I thought I would be by my camera.
It really is a joy to use.
I
had a fantastic conversation with my mom today. At one point I
asked her how I turned out so FREAKIN' confident in myself. I
remember being scared to death as a child. She concurred that
I was a timid little mouse, especially around the age of 7. And
that I started coming out of an extreme introversion when I was
in middle school. But she said she always told my sister and I
that we could be ANYTHING we wanted to be, and that if someone
told us we couldn't do something because we were girls, don't
believe them. Then I found out that when she was 14, my mom was
in a car accident. The doctor told her parents, in front of
her, that she may never be able to learn anything
again. How fucking stupid of them to think that, and thank
goodness mom didn't take it to heart. The next year she was in
beauty school, graduating from it before she graduated from high
school. And she's a smart woman. The car accident didn't make
her stupid. In fact, it gave her resolve.

Man,
how did these 5 days sneak past me?
Those 5 days were action-packed. The two biggest things are:
1) My mom is getting married! She's dating a wonderful man named
Gary. I am very happy for both of them. The only thing that's throwing
me off is that I am gaining three step siblings, Jessie, Josh and
Jared. My folks split when I was 24, I think, so the idea of new
siblings is a little strange, now that I am grown. When I typed
"step siblings" two sentences ago, it typoed as "strep sinlings."
2) I finally got a digital camera! I've been wanting one
for what feels like the beginning of time. Now I have a Sony Mavica
FD-90 and it friggin ROCKS. It does everything but toast bread.
Soon this site will be littered with photos taken from it!
I
also spent the last two days running a booth with Brenda Leiker
at the Lincoln Park Cultural Center's Summer Art Fair. It was
a lovely weekend. Financially, I'm not quitting my day job(s),
but the weather was delightful and I got a chance to spend the
weekend longuing with Brenda, Jody Bessinger and her beau Josh,
Jon (John?) Hook, Andrea Peterson, and their 2 sons, Ry and Lu.
It wasn't a bad way to spend a weekend.
Now
I must make something of my day.

I
like bowling. I don't bowl nearly enough.
I
began drawing the main character for my first comic. She's superkickass.
I'll try to post sketches soon.

My
friend (and fiend) Shea ROCKS. He solved my how-to-get-the-most-recent-bloggers-on-my-me-page-problem.
This is why he gets paid the big bucks.

So
close. Now that I have figured out how to format the blog template
the way I like, I'm trying to figure out how to have the most recent
post on my me.htm page with all the posts at loosetooth.com/Me/weblog.htm.
Blogger makes it easy to set up main pages and archive pages, but
I want it under "The Newest" graphic in a table cell labeled with
an anchor called "newest." Doesn't look like I can do it within
the Blogger interface. So, as it stands all the posts are here
(or the light bulb button). At the moment I am putting them on the
main Me page manually.
