The Friday Five
Click here for more info on the f5
1. Do you like to shop? Why or why not?
Not really. A combo of not having dispoable income and being the Pickiest Girl in the World. I get what I've terms BSBBS Black Sweater, Black Buttons Syndrome, where I know exactly what I want but I can't find it anywhere. Happily, some stuff I can make it for myself.
2. What was the last thing you purchased?
Sad to say, but I just charged groceries on my credit card. Click here. Don't like charging things, especially groceries, but that's where things are at right now.
3. Do you prefer shopping online or at an actual store? Why?
Online, definitely. Saves the fruitless legwork. And being an online business, I like to patronize 'em.
4. Did you get an allowance as a child? How much was it?
Not really. Mom and Dad gave us money when we needed it, and I barely ever asked. I shopped at thrift stores so much growing up that I got conditioned against that thrift store smell. I'm all for buying used and being thrifty and resourceful - but it was a major coup when I bought my first set of matching towels! That after growing up with a hodge podge of towels by dad harvested from junk yard cars. Folks leave all sorts of stuff in their cars.
5. What was the last thing you regret purchasing?
Something small and stupid - I can't remember. I'm pinching pennies so hard this year, that I'm kicking myself over stupid $10 stuff.

Don't my po' ol' answers make you want to buy something in my shop?

Thanks
This year I'm thankful that Burgundy & Mike found each other, are so good together and that they had a beautiful wedding. I am also thankful for the freedom to work on my company, site and shop this year, getting closer to my goals. And always, I'm thankful for my wonderful circles of friends.

Eek! A Mouse.
A mouse just scampered up to me! I looked down at it and it scampered away. Personally, mice don't bother me (unlike roaches and *shudder* centipedes), but I do live with the delusion that there's just one mouse. I haven't laid eyes on one in the apartment for months. Maybe a year even.

Oh, well...

Fetching!
I'm feverishly working on some CafePress ornaments and holiday cards. But at Fred Flare are some SUPER hot holidays cards designed by Egg Press. I love that these are totally non-denominational and abstract but completely festive.

Wowsa!
I wish I had the next coupla hours to peruse MissPato.com! A site that compiles great site design according to 14 styles. I'll submit this here site (once the homepage is solid again), but am I clean? geometric? vector chic? I think it's most vector, because of the icons, but it doesn't fit the current vector chic.

JANUARY:
Stubborn and hard-hearted. Ambitious and serious. Loves to teach and be taught. Always looking at people's flaws and weaknesses. Likes to criticize. Hardworking and productive. Smart, neat and organized. Sensitive and has deep thoughts. Knows how to make others happy. Quiet unless excited or tensed. Rather reserved. Highly attentive. Resistant to illnesses but prone to colds. Romantic but has difficulties expressing love. Loves children. Loyal. Has great social abilities yet easily jealous. Very stubborn and money cautious.

WTF? The Good Kind of WTF
I happened across the Cosmic Baseball Association trying to learn how Diane Arbus committed suicide (long story there). I wish I knew the first thing about baseball to have a better sense of what this is about.

Brandy-By-The-Sea
It's the third straight gloomy, gloomy day here. Between gray skies, no caffeinated beverages here and worn out from making stuff this weekend, I was feeling quite sluggish this morning.

But then I put on the White Stripes. Loud.

Then I put up the shades and opened the windows, with the task of cleaning the dirt out of the windowsills. I live a block off of Lake Michigan in an apartment a a chunk off the ground. It's misty and fifty degrees. The brisk, wet breeze made me feel like I was transported to Oostende. Not that I've ever been to Oostende, but this is what I imagine it's like.

And I just discovered that when I use the right outlet, I can vacuum all of my apartment at once. That's how small my apartment is. But with these windows and this breeze, it's vast.

Hell, I'm in Oostende.
