Hooray!
I sent out a "test kitchen" email message to about 20 folks
last night, showing them the before and after for the shop.
I got about 8 messages back, all very thoughtful, and very much
we-agree-it-wasn't-so-great & we-like-where-it's-going. Great
fuel for making mega progress before Independence Day!

Cha-cha-cha-changes
So, I've been thinking that my shop design is not quite right.
I designed it in line with my Art/Work section and Me section,
but I really feel that the layout/navigation is too web-page-y
and not store-y enough. Needs to be lighter, brighter, cleaner
and more like window shopping.
Yesterday and today I worked on the new design. It brewed
in my head for the last couple weeks. The percolating helped,
because the design came pretty swiftly. The PayPal snafu is
another impetus to get the shop changes sooner rather than
later. Early next week, I'm going to fly the new design past
a few colleagues. Don't be surprised if you see the shop change.
Change is good.

CURSES!
I just sent out my big monthly newsletter. No sooner do I breathe
a sigh of relief, do I get a helpful email from
Megan, that shows me that the
PayPal buttons don't work on any page with more than one item!
Grrrr.... That's a lot of pages. If you're trying to
order from the problem pages, please email
me and we'll work it out.

Crack
of the Whip
I've been riding my own ass to get my June newsletter out before
June is over. I'm close. Tomorrow, I think. Admittedly, I'm
in a funk due to lack of money, sales, clients and leads. So,
I'm trying to write a newsletter that's a rallying cry, not
a pity party.

White Elephant!
Here's my newest collage, now in the shop. This time a white
elephant. Again, 9" x 12" paper with ink, gouache, sequins and
acrylic on masonite, topped off with a ribbon on his tail. If
you'd like to purchase him, he's $200 - click
here.

Brain
Food
Honestly, sometimes I sigh when I tell someone I am a designer
- it feels like every third person is a designer, especially
web ones. My tenets are simplicity, functionality, consistency
and color. Not the tenents of many designers who favors style
over substance. My design self was rejuvenated by a few things
on my trip this weekend. Seeing Dr.
Evermor's Forevertron kicked by bricolage-lovin'
butt. Strangely
Familiar: Design in Everyday Life at the Walker
Art Center was a very strong show with lots of interesting
stuff. I feel a surge of new work comin' on...

Oh,
it's so much more fun to make
stuff than to make shop pages to sell it....

New
CafePress Design
I am the economy. Please stimulate me.
Click
here to see the shirts and sticker offered with this
economically minded design. This was another Anthony inspired
design. He gave me permission to swipe the subject line of a
band-promoting email and make it into a shirt.
