Pay For Performance
Here's another page of journaling from a monthly ODNC meeting. This time, the question "Do pay-for-performance plans really work?" The answer was bascially yes, but it's important to reward teams more than individuals and think long-term over short.

Ideas and Images
Here's a few images from a GFing job I just got back from. Good group, great collaborators. Content's confidential so no big picture here - just a few snippets I redrew to practice.

I was working with facilitor/Director Pat Heneghan and Programme Manager Pamela Deans of FourthRoad. A pleasure working with them.

Scottish Pamela said we were going to do a "MEHR-lin" exercise. I said, "like in the state (Maryland) or the actress (Marilyn)?"

Pamela: "Neither. The wizard."

Beat. Beat. "Oh... Merlin!" Thus the wizard pic above.

I was especially slow on the uptake having been hit with a headcold on the eve of the gig. But most things still sink in...eventually.

Political Typography
While in Champaign-Urbana the weekend before last, Dan and I were doing an informal count of Kerry and Bush signs. Between Dan and Gwen's house and Shea and Kathleen's. Bush was up by four signs, out of about 20.

I said that while I loathe Bush and Cheney, I think their sign is stronger, better design.

So says Paula Scher in the New York Times.

I concur.

What I want to know is just how deliberate and collaborative was the design on both sides, and was there any knowledge of the other side's design?
