Brandy as an 8
I just sent out an invite for my eighth annual open houses in the
Brandypshere. Inspired by the 8, I made the above illustration for
it. I'm really fond of it, as long as folks don't think I birthed
the gift.

Illustration
Friday
I thought I'd take a crack at Penelope's
Illustration Friday. She posts a word and anyone can take
a visual crack at it. I've been wanting to do more with Ico since
the first
installment of Iconophilia.
This seemed like a good way to show Ico some lovin'.
This week, "regal."

Sorry
Everybody.
I had heard buzz about the site SorryEverybody.com,
but hadn't seen it until my friend Alise sent the link today. I've
looked at all 425 pages so far. Don't think you need to go that far,
but I do encourage anyone feeling low post-election to visit. The
49% is very well represented. It is 12,000+ images expressing sadness,
regret, anger, dumbfoundedness, comaraderie and forgiveness.
It's interesting to see what kind of signs people will hold up to
themselves, often covering their mouths, letting the paper speak for
them. Seeing all these faces looking straight at you is powerful.
So is writing on the body. I appreciated the directness of the number
of people who represented their states with sad faces. Straightforward.
Strangely, a very large number of puppies and children are sorry too.
I suppose they are the friends to the stick-out-your-lower lip crowd.
I don't know how many pages in until I saw a response from another
country. It was very touching. It's neat (I'm running out of adjectives)
to see people represent their county, percentage of votes, state and
country. They photograph themselves, but sign Brazil or Austria or
Germany.
A sweet response was from a Austrian on page
375 who said:
"p.s. My heart ist bigger than my english."
My response:

In Esperanto, "I'm sorry." Below it reads, "Fear doesn't rule me."
As far as I could see, it's the first Esperanto response. Though I
know only the tiniest bit of Esperanto, it's important to me what
it represents. A universal second language meant to help people meet
halfway and communicate. Be part of a world community.

Pixels and Yards
Today I made 6 icons, 33 pixels high. Digital, 504 bytes each. Last
week I made 16 drawings 4 feet high. Physical. The latter 114 times
bigger than the icons.
Communicating visually at any scale.
