Doom Boxes

neurodiversity personal Nov 20, 2021

Give a thing a name. Share that name. Feel better.

A friend shared this post and I feel truly seen.

I have made these my whole life. And I have felt shitty about them my whole life.

I thought:

  1. I should not create these in the first place.
  2. I should stop creating them.

Then I saw the post above.

I thought:

  1. Yep, I do this.
  2. Other people this.
  3. They and I do this because of how our brains work.
  4. That makes sense.
  5. Now I have a name for them.

Update from the future: That post has truly helped me. Now I can say, "We cleaned things out and I started with 6 doom boxes, I emptied 4 and now I have 2 left. That is a WIN."

And THAT IS PROGRESS. Not shame and burden.
